I Support The Anti- SOPA / PIPA Blackout Protest

Why do some prominent websites around the world like Wikipedia, Flickr, Go Daddy, Ebay, Google, Amazon are going offline, turns black , inaccessible or redirects you to some dark website the past few days and today Jan.18. 2012? This are all in support of the protest against the impending U.S. Legislation the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Internet IP Address Act (PIPA).

Why are they against SOPA and PIPA:
1. These bills have the potential to stifle innovation, require censorship of search results, impose monitoring obligations, and change the way information is distributed on the web.
2. Both are designed to address a legitimate problem – foreign-based websites that are engaging in digital piracy and trafficking in counterfeit goods.  Unfortunately, we and many others believe that these bills miss the mark.

Generally, both acts want to penalize everyone for using the internet and make it one of the U.S. Government’s milking cow that will eventually lead to the death of the free use of sharing information and innovation online that will KILL THE INTERNET! I may not be a U.S. Citizen but I am a netizen who will be affected by this in a huge way. Because of that, I do not support SOPA and PIPA!

The U.S. Congress will hold a presscon on January 19, 2012 regarding both pending bills. Netizens, speak out and let your voices be heard! STOP SOPA. STOP PIPA NOW! Visit protectinnovation.com and netcoalition.com for more information.
