While everyone was having fun at two fashion events, I was sitting comfy in my little own space, getting my nails done, having some pull-out items returned and picking up some nice new clothes before the taping of the new TV show at Solar News TV entitled “The Blogger”. This show will focus on issues affecting the blogosphere and I was glad to have been invited to be one of their guest for the pilot episode with involving a very important topic that can affect everyone who uses the internet– the recently signed Cybercrime Prevention Act or Republic Act 10175 which I passionately talked about in my recent post.
I was flattered to know that one of the host Ms. Raissa fought for me to be there as she said she believed I have a very strong position about the Anti-Cybercrime Law as she said she read my post on my blog and my insights that I shared on my Facebook. A food blogger Maricris was also invited for the show and she was also on Skype.
They explained that they want non-political bloggers in their show particularly this topic as they want to emphasize that everybody, political or non-political bloggers do not approve of the controversial inclusion of Online Libel as it is equal to curtailing the freedom of speech and the freedom of all citizens to be critical of their government as they can be sued for libel!
Prof. Harry Roque who is also very popular lawyer is also a guest for The Blogger, he will be our legal adviser for this episode. Incidentally he also blogs at HarryRoque.com and has a good explanation why he also disapproves of the Online Libel clause in the anti-Cybercrime law.

And were live … via Skype! I hope I didn’t make a lot of booboos, as much as I am comfy talking with people and being around them, when I am on the “spotlight” I somehow get nervous and stutter! I even asked my friends on Facebook to throw in some question re the controversial bill but only one was able to ask everyone was busy that night!
The Blogger will be aired next week on Solar News Channel in Cable and Free TV Channel 21. I am still not sure of the timeslot though. All I know is that The Blogger will be a weekly show and they have prepared 8 pilot episodes.

I will definitely be watching this. I also oppose this Cybercrime Prevention Act as it’s clearly protecting the interest of politicians. Right after the issue with Sen. Tito Sotto, they decided to draft the bill and even include online libel which is very difficult to prove. It shows how hastily they thought about this. Hayyy.. It’s really sad how they care so much about their image but not for what’s really happening in the country.
