FDA Banned Beauty Products With High Mercury Content

Whitening products that I reviewed in the past top the list of the most searched topic on my blog. It’s just a proof that there are millions of people in the Philippines and elsewhere in the world are high in skin whitening and lightening because they believed fairer skinned people are more beautiful and attractive compared to those with darker skin tone.

Well, people be warned, the FDA just updated the list of the beauty/cosmetic products with high Mercury content, mostly whitening and anti-acne products. These products are already banned by the FDA and if ever you bought one of them you should immediately stop using it or suffer the following consequences which are the adverse effects of Mercury Poisoning.

Signs and Symptoms of Mercury Poisoning

• irritability
• shyness
• tremors
• changes in vision or hearing
• memory problems
• depression
• numbness and tingling in hands, feet or around mouth

Other possible adverse health effects of mercury in cosmetic products are kidney damage, skin rashes, skin discoloration, scarring as well as anxiety, depression or psychosis, peripheral neuropathy, and neurodevelopment deficits for fetuses of pregnant women.
