It has been awhile since I last dined at Heaven and Eggs. It’s not because I don’t like the food there, but because there are other new restaurants that is worth to try. While I have been here a couple of times, I notice that they have changed ambiance during my visits.
What I remember from the first time they opened in 2009 I think, was that their restaurant looked heavenly. Very dainty with sky blue paint all over and the ceiling was painted with clouds! The chairs were quaint and very light. It was like eating in heaven because of the fun and heavenly vibe.
Then I remember sometime in 2011 they changed their look to a dark one. The interiors were changed to dark and heavy furniture and the walls and ceiling were painted black and yellow.
After that I dunno I haven’t visited again until last week through the invite of Rodel Flordeliz of Nognog in the City and dined with some blogger friends John Michael Bueno of Kumagcow, Ruth dela Cruz of Ruthilicious and Lifestyle Asia writer Reg. The ambiance of the resto today was hmmm lost between Pop Rock era and mostly decorated with Beatles PopArt paintings and the walls were lined with clashing wall paper design.

We were told they are planning to remodel the place again, change new interiors, or actually go back to their original concept, the one that made them popular in the country when they first opened, the Heavenly Heaven and Eggs where families would like to dine and chill on a weekend or even on a regular day. I am excited for that day as it will be more inviting to eat there again once they do this.
Now the food.
I had the Steak and Eggs about more than Php1,000.00 a serving! I asked for my steak (quarter pounder Angus Beef) to be cooked medium well done and my eggs sunny side up with mashed potatoes on the side. You can have the choice of rice and scrambled for your eggs

They also have an on-going promo for steak for Php795.00 but you have to make a clean plate and no sharing!
But for starters we had Caesar Salad that is good to share by 3-4 persons.

and fries

I also had a cup of hot chocolate because I was kinda freezing that day. It drizzled a bit and the aircon was in fullblast!

Ruth had the Two Eggs Any Style for Php325.00 . Choice of over easy, sunny side up, scrambled or poached egg with breakfast sausage, bacon, served with Multi-Grain Toast.

John had the Pinoy Big Breakfast for Php495.00. A full plate combination of Lucban longanisa, Angus beef tapa, and grilled ork tocino with two eggs any style. Served with garlic rice and homemade achara.

Rodel had the Egg Benedict for Php315.00

As if we were not full yet, we have to try the pancakes, for desserts! Hah!
They highly recommend the Fruity Tootie Waffles for Php235.00. Made of hot iron waffles topped with assorted fruit compote and whipped cream. Fruits were blueberry, strawberry, kiwi and mango.

And my favorite Apple Cinnamon Pancakes for Php185.00 Flap jacks made with cinnamon and brown sugar served with caramelized apples and toasted walnuts.

To wash it down I had the Watermelon Shake . I always take watermelon especially on a full meal it helps digest food fast and make me feel less bloated haha!

What I think of Heaven and Eggs:
Serving: 10 out of 10 serving is huge that will definitely fill a hungry man, petite girl like me or bulky like John (peace and love Kumagcow!)
Plating: 8 of of 10 maybe they were in a rush to serve it fast. But since we are bloggers who blogs about food we like good presentations with good plating (blocking of food is important so everyone can see what’s in there!)
Service: 10 out of 10 I was surprised that they served the steak really fast and the taste didn’t suffer. Most of the food we ordered were quickly served so I was pleased by that.
Taste: 8.5 out of 10 my steak was very well flavored and cooked just the way I want it. My mashed potatoes were ok. The sauce was good. The Pancakes and waffles was great. John had a comment about his Pinoy Breakfast meal, he would appreciate if it was plain rice instead of garlic since most of the food in his dish was fried. Ruth and Rodel had a comment on the Eggs Benedict they didn’t feel the sauce that much. But it was good they said. The salad was average. So is my watermelon shake. I love my hot chocolate.
Ambiance: 5 out of 10 The restaurant indeed had to focus on what image it wants to project. Are they an all-day breakfast place or a pop culture restaurant that will adjust to their customers demographic or the owners preference? While I loved the Beatles Pop Art painting, everything else in the restaurant’s interior was lost. The chairs are too big and bulky and heavy looking, the setup was kinda confusing especially with the rack of some bread by the window that I think prevents people from going in.
Do I recommend Heaven and Eggs?
Yes I do, the food is something that will make me visit again. I still love their Apple Cinnamon Pancakes and the Steak is phenomenal. I can’t wait for the store overhaul! I also heard they will be opening new branches soon as their branches in Timog and Eastwood were closed.
Heaven and Eggs is located at Glorietta Mall Makati just near the Glorietta 5 parking and the drop-off point near Ascott Hotel.
How about you have you tried Heaven and Eggs before ? What did you like best about the resto and what recommendations do you have for them so they can improve on?
Stay gorgeous everyone!
