NESCAFE 3-in-1 Soundskool Regional Eliminations GMA Winners

Four of the best college bands based in the Greater Manila Area (GMA) were chosen  to advance to the Finals stage of the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool’s Grand Finals competition held at Market! Market!  and will have the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to have a head-to-toe makeovers, one-on-one mentoring sessions with some of the country’s top bands, intensive music workshops and performances alongside their band idols on the Grand Finals Night on November 14 at the Ninoy Aquino Sports Stadium in Metro Manila.

The four college bands from GMA to join the band camp include Play from Polytechnic University of the Philippines, Project from Jose Rizal University, Nameless Heroes from Mapua Institute of Technology and Soltera from AMA Cubao.

They emerged the best among the 19 college bands from GMA which include: Aniwana (University of Rizal System), Clap (FEU-East Asia College),Dekada (Polytechnic University of the Philippines), Jacks Playground (Global Institute), Jylz (Lyceum of the Philippines University), Nick Of Time (University of Sto. Tomas), Panorama (University of Sto. Tomas), Project (Jose Rizal University), Unify (Dr. Felimon C. Aguilar Memorial College of Las Piñas), Wednesday After (De La Salle University), Nameless Heroes (Mapua Institute of Technology), Chenelyn Chorva (AMA Computer Learning College), Soltera (AMA), Play (Polytechnic University of the Philippines – Quezon City), Fault Line (Fatima University), Twisted Fate (Technological University of the Philippines), Era (De La Salle University), Capstone Luna (AMA), and Black Jacks (Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig).

A total of 13 lucky bands will move on to the finals and get the opportunity to participate in the NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool 2009 Workshops in Boracay where they can listen to advice and insights of some of the local music industry’s top artists and business executives about how to further improve their songwriting skills, ability to connect with audience, managing their finances while being successful musicians, among others. The finalists will also get to interact with their idols during teambuilding sessions and most importantly, perform live with them in mini-concerts that will be held on the island. NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool’s Grand Prize Winner this year will receive PhP 250,000 in cash, PhP 100,000 worth of band equipment for the school they represent, and an exclusive record contract with Sony Music Entertainment Philippines.

Callalilly did the opening performance during the the event yesterday.  2008 Soundskool winner Letter Day Story also performed alongside with 6Cyclemind who did the closing performance.

This year’s NESCAFÉ 3in1 Soundskool, with the theme “Huwag Na Magtago! Magparamdam Ka Na!” is supported by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Sony Music Entertainment Philippines, Paseo de Bahamas, Rudy Project, Boracay Scuba, Boracay Mandarin Island Hotel, Ix Chel, La Carmela de Boracay Resort Hotel and Parkmall in Mandaue City, Cebu.

    it makes no sense to say “tama na yang pinaglalaban nyo”

    and then follow it up with “minsan fair, minsan hindi”

    it really isnt going to end until you accept that you lost cleanly.

    and when it comes to bashing lyrics because of simplicity, there are songs considered to be some of the greatest written, but with the simplest of lyrics. there’s alot more to the depth of a song.

    lastly, you guys disappoint me. one of the reasons our local music industry is taking so long to grow is the fact that we’re always happy it does, just not at our (or in this case, your) cost.

  3. Yep good luck na lang. Di rin naman sila mananalos a daming mas magagaling sa kanila. Di sa inggit pero mas masaya kung fair ang laban at di sa kapit. Alam agad na lagpas ng 6 minutes dahil nagkaron ng technical difficulty at counted na yun kahit di pa kumakanta. Kung di sobrang halata ang pagkaluto wala sanang nagrereklamo ngayon. Sana naging discreet na lang. 😉
