Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter Movie Review

This is not your ordinary vampire movie! Weaving truth and fiction altogether, this movie is totally insane, dark and twisted, but I surely love it!

While everyone was so hyped about The Amazing Spiderman and Andrew Garfield’s amazing butt, a seemingly odd titled movie come about and I was one of the few who was eager to watch it.  I am glad I did, I was not disappointed at all.  The Abraham Lincoln: Vampure Hunter Movie is a totally insane, dark and twisted movie and   I surely loved it!   It’s more than just the truth which is being bent for our entertainment 

I know most of you would be scratching their heads and ask isn’t Abraham Lincoln the 16th President of  America? How on earth is he ever a vampire hunter, and how on earth were they able to get his name be used in vain like that.    The movie is a mash-up of truth and fiction.  If you are familiar with the American history , the civil war in the 18th century and President Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address, you will definitely enjoy the movie and tell yourself OMG, this is possible!   Weaving a gothic horror tale into Lincoln’s biography, and doing so in as truthful a way as possible, I love the movie so much! YOU should watch it.  But don’t watch with the kids it’s kinda graphic in a way the movie was already rated R13.

The fight and chase scenes are something you will also enjoy, it reminded me of Matrix and Kill Bill, plus the fact that the soundtrack was Linkin Park.  Amazing editing.  Great set, makeup and costume as well.  It was like an action, satire, period movie rolled into one.  The movie also has it’s goth and dark feel, which is a Tim Burton trademark.  (Surprise, he is one of the producers!)

The movie was based on the bestselling vein-thumping mashup novel by Seth Grahame-Smith, Timur Bekmambetov directs while Tim Burton and Jim Lemley produce “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.”

Dubbed as a revisionist tale of the 16th US President’s life as a politician by day and a vampire hunter by night, it stars Benjamin Walker as the iconic commander-in-chief and Dominic Cooper as his mentor. The film also stars Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln, Jimmi Simpson as Josh Speed and Anthony Mackie as Will. Alan Tudyk takes on the role of Stephen A. Douglas, while Rufus Sewell is the film’s chief antagonist vampire Adam.

It’s safe to say that ABRAHAM LINCOLN: VAMPIRE HUNTER is no ordinary period piece. Anthony Mackie, who plays Lincoln ’s trusted confidant William H. Johnson, reveals that it’s more than just the truth which is being bent for our entertainment

Prepare for the unexpected when “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter” opens July 4 in cinemas (2D and 3D) nationwide from 20th Century Fox to be distributed by Warner Bros.
