Say Antipolo and Hinilugang Taktak, Antipolo Shrine and Alay Lakad will come to mind immediately. All these three are all related because they are the reason why Antipolo is one of the most popular destination near Metro Manila for Catholic devotees during Holy Week. Alay Lakad means pilgrimage where devotees walk from wherever they are in Metro Manila all the way to the Antipolo Shrine to pray, reflect and watch the Senakulo. After doing their religious duties, devotees then head to Hinulugang Taktak (a beautiful waterfall located at this province) on Easter Sunday to get blessed.
Little did I know, there are more beautiful places to discover in Antipolo City — that was where this last weekend destination took me. Thanks to Nuffnang Philippines, Nestle and Nescafe Ice Coffee.
When I got the invite, I absolutely didn’t know where we are going. But looking at the invite and the map attached to it, it looked like something I would enjoy – read: bold, smooth and sweet weekend adventure! Those who know me, I’m always up to discover something new!
The day started with a hefty breakfast at Mom and Tina’s in Pasig where I met my fellow #weekenddiscovery adventure bloggers for the trip. With me are (from L-R) my daughter in stripes, LJ Reyes, I mean Kaye Figuration, ex-President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo este Levy Martinez and Gladys Reyes, I mean Olga Joson Espino.
Buffet Breakfast at Mom & Tina’sAfter getting our fill, we went were immediately taken to the coaster followed by camera’s everywhere! Haha! (Dami kasing artista kasama hahahahaha kahit sa loob ng coaster naka-video!)
Our first stop was the
Crescent Moon Cafe , the Lanelle Abueva-Fernando Studio Pottery where we met the owners who tour us around the place, showed us how they made their famous ceramic products distributed to major restaurants here and around the world. She also showed us the traditional way to make pots, just like the movie Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze!
Mrs. Fernando showing us how to spin a pot! Be careful though, pressing the pedal can make the spinner go crazy and the clay fly-off the roof! (Yes, that was a fun experience, some clay flew off when one our companions pressed the pedal too hard ! )
They don’t make all their pots by hand now though, they have molds for bulk orders and oven bake them for faster production. But still, the artwork is by hand using some kinda paint they don’t want to reveal what it was because it is a trade secret!
All the cermic pots here are for drying, do not touch says Mrs. Fernandez or else! Haha!
Our next stop was
Pinto Art Museum! My most favorite place included in this adventure trip!
Pinto Art Museum is a 1.6 hectare haven of everything artistic and beautiful!
Going in, the first thing that will greet you are these lovely modern pieces of sculptures!
The first / exhibit is Religious Art and Sculptures, some are century old antiques some are replicas that are for sale. This one was a century old statue of Jesus. The oldest piece in the gallery.
On the way to the next gallery, you will pass by lovely garden and landscape sculptures and mosaic art and landscape!
Next was the gallery of traditional art, mural paintings! By far this was one of the best art museums I’ve ever been! Architecture is so wonderful, you can appreciate the beauty of the art work and the place all at the same time.
Oh God! There are just too many lovely spots, arts, and things inside this museum that I can put in this post. So for your viewing pleasure you may visit my Facebook Album about this Weekend Discovery trip here https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151594691386528.1073741829.523871527&type=1&l=d7a31a500f for the entire photo gallery!
There’s no denying, this place is a work of art! Everything is just picture perfect!
Lunch was served at the Pinto Cafe food by Bizu. This is where we finally learned who invited us for this trip, the Nescafe In Can, the new Nescafe Ice Coffe Flavors – Mocha, Latte and Espresso, the perfect buddy for your weekend discoveries with family and friends. We also met the latest endorser of the brand Bianca Gonzalez
After lunch we went for another tour around the museum. Our next stop was the amazing exhibit of contemporary art. Here’s the entire photo album of the trip https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10151594691386528.1073741829.523871527&type=1&l=d7a31a500f yes, I went trigger happy!
The next destination on the map was a surprise. They took us for pasalubong shopping. I bought some Antipolo famous suman and cashew nuts. This girl was very industrious, we did not need go down the coaster to buy from their stall! Suman is 3 bundle for Php100.00 with 7 pieces each bundle. While she gave Php50.00 discount for the original Php150.00 a glass of cashew nuts
Another surprise stop at the gas station before we head home. What’s a trip without stopping by a gas station right? Well, we did not fill-up with gas but rather they hand us over our very own mini-coolers filled with Nescafe Iced Coffee! They also gave us ref magnets of some of our instagrammed/twitted photos as souvernir of our weekend discovery trip! Woot!
Thank’s so much Nescafe In Can for this

Indeed a nice place. So many interesting places in the Philippines but never been to half of them. I like the photo of the garden taken from the inside of house, looks like a live painting.
