Dove is committed to creating a world where beauty is a source of confidence, not anxiety. When I and a couple of ladies included in the Celebrate Real Beauty Campaign of Dove last year, some questioned why were we selected. Some even bashed how most of us look, talking behind our backs and how most of us looked like “mga katulong”. I have to admit I got really disappointed with those people who talked that way, it was also sad to hear that some of the people behind the campaign don’t seem to understand what Real Beauty is all about.
I’m glad Dove came up with another campaign this year the Dove Real Beauty Sketches campaign which aims to spread awareness and to inspire women to reconsider their beauty and recognize that they are more beautiful than they think. Dove believes that beauty should be for everyone, because when you look and feel your best, you feel better about yourself.

The Dove Real Beauty Sketches campaign was a real social experiment, designed to evoke conversation, about the way women depict themselves, which is often different from how others perceive them. Dove conducted an authentic and compelling social experiment to illustrate how women are their own worst beauty critic and how this problem manifests. Documented in the short film, Real Beauty Sketches, Dove explores how women view their own beauty in contrast to what others see.
Real Beauty Sketches features Gil Zamora, an FBI trained forensic artist who has used his trademark Compositure™ Methodology to draw over 3,000 sketches during his 28-year career. The film documented Zamora creating composite sketches of seven women who were hidden behind a curtain and he used their self-descriptions as the basis of his drawings. Prior to their session with the forensic artist, each of the women were unexpectedly asked to spend a short period of time with a stranger without being told why, in order to maintain the integrity of the experiment. Zamora then drafted sketches from the stranger’s depictions.
What was the outcome of the social experiment?
Most of the sketches drafted from the stranger’s point of view showed a more beautiful, happier and frequently more accurate portrayal of the women to further demonstrate that, when it comes to how they look, the biggest beauty pressure is the pressure they put on themselves.
I love this social experiment. You may want to watch the Dove Real Beauty Sketches video here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XpaOjMXyJGk
Remember ladies we are all beautiful, no matter what other people say!

True Kai we are our own worst critic. Amazing video right.
Awww thanks Irene 🙂 you made my day. I super love this experiment I hope it reaches everyone by heart!
You’re pretty kaya Ms.Earth, I stalked you on IG. 😀
I love your simplicity. Just like happiness, beauty depends on our own perspective. But sometimes we don’t see our own beauty because we focus too much in comparing ourselves to others. This experiment proves it.
I actually watched the videos of this campaign and it was really an eye opener. We are own harshest critiques. With this, I believe it can help boost the self-image of others through this awareness. Thanks for sharing!
I saw this video on Youtube as an ad! I found it very enlightening. It’s true that as women, we tend to downplay our own attractions due to our own insecurities. It takes other people to help us realize how truly beautiful we are and it’s not necessarily a negative thing. It’s just the way things work sometimes 🙂 I love this campaign!
