Sneak Peek of My PopTalk Korea In Metro Manila Trip

Nyung ha se yo!

Two weeks ago, I was invited by Pop Talk, a TV show at QTV Channel 11, to join them for a trip around three most popular Korean communities in Metro Manila where you can find a bulk of Korean food places and hang-outs and give my opinion about them if the place is Pop or Not. Meaning if I recommend the place or not. This episode will be aired tomorrow, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 10PM at QTV11 Philippine free channel.

So, as not to preempt the show, I will just give you the highlights of our “Little Korea in Metro Manila” field trip. We went to three key Korean communities namely: on Antonio in Quezon City; Malate Circle in Manila and at Makati Avenue.

I was with the host Tonypet Gaba, with actress Chynna Ortaleza and our resident Korean Eugene Cho . In this collage pic you can also see Joanna the executive producer.

I’ve been passing by Don Antonio for as long as I could remember little did I know that there’s a lot of unique places to dine-in there! Just like this Korean Fast Food we stayed in for brunch: Krispy Chicken. They serve their most popular Crispy Honey Chicken in this super innovative container where drinks goes in the bottom and the chicken on top. I think this is a great movie-date munchie!  They call it Cool Pop sold at Php70.00

We found a huge Korean grocery along Don Antonio too, the Wang Mart. According to the owner all items are sourced directly from Korea! I super love this grocery it’s super huge and packed with assorted Korean goodies from Korean Ice Cream, Korean Noodles, Korean drinks and snacks, to fresh Kimchi!

Then we head to lunch at the Secret Garden which set-up indeed looks very secret, who would knew inside an ordinary facade of an ordinary building is this garden-type resto serving authentic Korean dishes by an authentic Korean “chef”. Buffet starts at Php300.00 for unlimited pork or Php400.00 for unlimited beef or a combination! Not bad eh?

While still full from that lunch, we went to our next destination, the Malate circle that I haven’t visited in ages! I think it’s been a decade! Yes that long ago! Anyway, I was surprised that the old Malate I know was hit by the Korean invasion! There’s so many Korean establishments in there. Our destination however was Go KiZip, a Korean Restauran that is open 24 hours!

We also stopped at a KTV Bar where our Korean frien Eugene sang his heart away in Korean!

Then we went to Makati Avenue, gosh the traffic! Our destination was Maru a three story Korean restaurant with very beautiful interiors!

While in Makati we stopped by Token bar to play billiards! That place was loaded with young Korean peeps!

We were done taping by 12MN! Yes look at us we are all haggard and tired! But I must say it was a fun experience, I discovered a lot of new places to take my Korean friends or die-hard KPop fan-friends.

Honestly I can’t remember the names of the Korean food that we had except for Kimchi. So if you like to see what we had and what they’re called then you should watch PopTalk on Tueday, April 30, 2013 at QTV Channel 11. By watching you will know if how we rate the restaurants if they are worth visiting or not. I can’t tell you right now because I don’t want to preempt the show.  I will tell you later after it’s aired I will update this post.

How about you, have you been to the Korean restaurants and hang-outs I mentioned above? What do you think?

Stay gorgeous everyone!

  2. Naku Kero Thanks! ala naman yan haha. sana makita ko rin sa YouTube mukhang uber busy tomorrow and the traffic in Manila is terrible. Hmmm wala palang Korean resto there maybe you should start a business haha like ganun lang eh no 🙂 ako rin I have no idea of Korean cuisine masarap lang sha kainin! Hahaha!

  3. Ibang level na talaga, Miss earth! Congratulations!! May your laurels continue to increase.

If there’s one thing I shoudl complain in Dubai, it is the lack of Korean supermarket and restaurants that i absolutely have zero knowledge on Korean cuisine – least for kimchi.

    manood ako sa Youtube!..stay gorgeous!
