Spring is one of the most awaited season after winter as it is the time when splash of beautiful colors starts to appear on earth.
While we don’t have spring here in the Philippines and color is everywhere here, I was able to experience the welcoming of spring and the kick-off to summer at the Holi Festival of Color in Manila held at the SM MOA by the Bay first day of March 2015.
Holi is a spring festival from India that signifies victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring, end of winter, and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships!
It was a great feeling to be acquainted with the Hindu culture. The event venue was brimming with beautiful Hindu people who are living and studying here in the Philippines. I also enjoyed a lot of Hindu food as their delicacies abound the festival area. There were a lot of Hindu performers and dances the whole day as they play a lot of Hindu song and dance and rituals.
Traditionally, washable natural plant-derived colours such as turmeric, neem, dhak, kumkum were used; but water-based commercial pigments are increasingly used. All colours are used. Everyone in open areas such as streets and parks are game. Inside homes or at doorways though, only dry powder is used to smear each other’s face. People throw colours, and get their targets completely coloured up. It is like a water fight, but where the water is coloured. People take delight in spraying coloured water on each other. By late morning, everyone looks like a canvas of colours. This is why Holi is given the name “Festival of Colours.”

- It is very liquid and if you over spray it gets drippy and takes awhile to dry.
- When dried, hair gets hard and sticky.
- It has the consistency and procedure as a hair spray we use to hold a hairstyle.
- I am not much in favor that it is on aerosol form though.
- My favorite color effect was the blue followed by red and brown.
- If you are into cosplay and you need a lot of colorful hair color, this is a good and cheap alternative!
- The best part is the color washes off easily with just water!

Just like I mentioned above, if you are into cosplay and need new hair color for every character you wear, then buy this one. This is also good to use on colorful festival such as the Holi Festival! Make yourself a canvass of beautiful color!
