How was your New Year’s Eve? Where did you celebrate? How was your view? Mine was great until it turned disappointing. Why? I will tell you in a bit.
I booked our New Year’s Eve staycation at Holiday Inn Suites in Makati three days before the date we checked in which is peek days December 31, 2015. But luckily we got major discounts because Hotel Quickly is a last minute hotel booking sites which give you discounts as much as 70%.
We got a very nice spacious room on the 14th floor with kingsize bed and a beautiful view of Makati City. The room we booked included free breakfast at the famous Flavors buffet.
Since Holiday Inn Makati has an access to Glorietta we went for a stroll to find some place to eat before dinnertime. After going around, mom got tired , so we decided to have early dinner at the Buffalo Wild Wings, just next to our hotel. Food was great serving was huge.

Food was great serving was huge.Back at the hotel, got freshen up a bit and then we decided to see the light show at Ayala Triangle. We’ve been visiting the lighshow almost yearly for straight 3 years I think but it never fails to mezmerize me and my DD.
Here is our little Happy Together video :
It was still drizzling outside, we got back at out hotel by 9pm and we were hungry by then and mom was tired. She took a nap, while me, sis and DD helped ourselves on our takeout from where we had dinner.
Holiday Inn has dedicated numbers to call dependng on what floor or room you are in for room service. This is good especially on a busy day like New Years Eve. I requested for two wine glasses so sis and I can drink the wine we brought with us for this staycation.
They said the Philippines has the best New Year’s Eve Fireworks Display in the world do you agree?
I always loved fireworks, the light effects, like exploding and falling stars, is just magical. No matter how many times I have seen them, they never fail to amaze me, until this New Year’s Eve, I was dumbfounded. It was cloudy with some drizzle that day and even during nighttime it did not stop. We were thinking that there will be less or no fireworks display that night. But of course, the Filipino spirit is waterproof, even their fireworks and so the light show happened.
Our hotel room was soundproof, that was really cool, we can’t hear a thing from outside.
Before midnight strike we went to the roofdeck of Holiday Inn Suites in Makati, to the Oz Bar where an 80’s New Year’s eve party theme was happening. But unfortunately, there was not much view to see from there because of the picnic umbrellas open coz it was raining so we went back to our room.
We had a nice view of all the top hotels in Makati from our window, we were expecting an amazing light show , turned up the music and popped a bottle of wine. And then the show started!
I can tell you more but this video I took during the New Year’s Eve Fireworks to 2016 will show you what I mean.
IMHO, I think the better fireworks display for the new year’s eve to come is a light and laser show just like what they do at the Ayala Triangle, include all those beautiful buldings in the show and have the most impressive smoke-freee display of lights picture Hongkong Causeway bay lightshow at night!
What do you think?
January 1st, breakfast buffet at Holiday Inn Makati was great, so many choices and wow, the hotel was fully booked. I’m glad I did not have to pay extra coz usually a room is good or 2 people only. Maybe it was a special new Year day treat!
I love that tea station!
My stay at Holiday Inn Makati was pleasant, rooms were clean, spacious, the bathroom is nice as well and lots of towels no need to ask for extra. I also love how its just beside the mall and a lot of food choices and places in Ayala Center. I’m also thankful for having Hotel Quickly app that made it possible for me to book a room even it was peak season!
How was your New Year’s Eve celebration?
Stay gorgeous everyone!
