OOTD: Vintage Dress from My Mama’s Closet

I live in a household of sentimental fools.  My mother kept almost all her old clothes from even before she imagined she will conceive a beautiful daughter like me (pun intended).  While I was digging in her memory boxes and looking at old photographs, I saw a newspaper clip in her diary about her epic love story with my father. My mom was wearing a beautiful long sleeve maxi dress with a nice floral print.

The magazine and newspaper clip was after a year of my parents wedding year 1973, just a few months after Martial Law was declared in the Philippines. I remember my mom keep this dress and thought I can still wear it today since vintage is definitely in.

Tada!

Well,my mom is a couple inches smaller than me. So the dress did not look maxi but just below the knees! Yes,we are a family of petites! But the dress still look great. Cut is nice, the fabric never fades and the design is so now!

I think I need to wear a bodyshaper when I wear this in an event haha! I wore the dress for my mom and dad’s 41st wedding anniversary!

I’ll tell you about my makeup on my next post.

How about you, have you seen or worn your mother’s clothes from decades ago?

Stay gorgeous everyone!

  1. Wow! the dress look really good on you. I’ve seen Mama’s vintage dresses and some hair accessories until my high school days. I remember one time she let me try her one piece swim wear (at home not in the pool hehehe). According to her, she was a fashionista back then.I’ve seen her photos wearing off-shoulder blouses and peticoat skirt s, and high-heeled shoes. 🙂

  2. I actually wore my mom’s wedding dress when I got married! It was a style that while timeless, just isn’t made anymore and I know she was very honored to share it. You look great in the dress – it looks modern as well!
